Malaria

5 June 2014 – Conflict and natural disasters often trigger malaria epidemics in displaced communities who have limited access to preventive measures and quality-assured treatment. Between 2008 and 2012, more than 140 million people were newly displaced by disasters globally, according to the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre. WHO’s inter-agency field handbook Malaria control in humanitarian emergencies, published in October 2013, brings together the most effective strategies to manage malaria responses during humanitarian emergencies. UN agencies will mark World R
efugee Day on 20 June.
